Congress Passes Mental Health Matters Act (2022)

This past September, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11), Chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee’s Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions, and Education and Labor Committee Chairman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) announced House passage of the Mental Health Matters Act (H.R. 7780).

This legislative action would not have happened without public interest swaying in a direction that favors prioritizing Mental Health.

“Despite billions of public dollars being spent on mental health and substance use disorder services, there is a lack of publicly available information regarding the spending and associated outcomes”

— Dr. Warrick Stewart-Darby
